Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain were all the rage some time ago, so I decided to give it a shot and ordered from Drugstore.com.

The packaging is almost identical to Clinique’s Chubby Stick, except the cap is not silver like Clinique’s. I really love the Chubby Stick in Mega Melon gifted to me by dear Jac, so I had high hopes for Revlon’s drugstore version.

I chose 001 Honey, aided by online swatches and descriptions.

With a name like Honey, I was half expecting a beige-ish nude shade. But Honey turned out to be a bright neutral pink.

Right off the bat, I noticed the pepperminty scent of the product, which is a little odd and unexpected. It’s actually quite a strong scent, but doesn’t linger too long. Pigmentation and vibrancy of the shade is also better than Chubby Sticks, and rightfully so as Revlon’s is a balm stain while Clinique’s is a balm. The Kissable Balm Stain beats Chubby Sticks hands down in terms of longevity as it really does a good job as a stain. Even after the initial shine has worn off, my lips retained the pink stain. However, it’s not as moisturising as Chubby Sticks, so I do have to wear the Kissable Balm Stain with lip balm.
Honestly it’s a give and take. With Kissable Balm Stain, I get longlasting colour and buildable pigmentation, but less hydration. Chubby Stick on the other hand is more moisturisng and comfortable to wear, but not as long lasting or pigmented. As similar as they look, the two were never meant to be direct dupes anyway, so I’m happy to own both as they serve different purposes.

i have revlon balm stain, clinique chubby stick and also tarte lipsurgence.
all three isn’t very moisturizing for me and would be best applied with some lipbalm, though if I have to pick, clinique chubby sticks has slightly better moisturizing properties for me.
i feel rather meh about the clinique because it’s the most expensive but the results in terms of colour payoff and moisturizing properties is very similar to what revlon and tarte has to offer.
