I recall this was all the rage when it was released during Holiday 2013. We don’t have Hourglass anymore here in Singapore, so I kinda forgot about it. When I was in the US in Nov last year, I chanced upon it at Sephora and it found it’s way into my basket.

I liked the idea of a convenient palette of setting/finishing/highlightin powders, and it’s a great way to try out Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Powders before committing to full size ones.

It also comes with a travel friendly Veil Mineral primer.

The palette comes with three of Hourglass’ famour Ambient Lighting Powders – Dim Light, Incandescent Light and Radiant Light.

Swatched in natural light.

Swatched in flash light.

These Ambient Lighting Powders are described as more of a finishing powder to add that extra oomph to your skin. I find that they work in kinda the same fashion as Guerlain’s Meteorites, though those tend to be more sheer and translucent. The Hourglass powders are more pigmented and less shimmery. I use Dim Light as an all over finishing powder, Incandescent Light as a highlighter and Radiant Light as a finishing powder when I need to add some warmth to my skin if my foundation is a little too light. This is a great travel-friendly palette and provides you with a variety of options. I’m not sure I love the powders enough individually to purchase them separately, but as a palette, you really can’t go wrong.

  1. I have been staring at this and the Hourglass blushes in my net A porter shopping cart for ages but I can’t bring myself to click checkout yet. I don’t think I need anymore setting powders and highlighters and for that matter any more makeup but I don’t feel the push to want to get it yet. Have you had that feeling? Must show me one of these days when we meet :)

    • I know the feeling! I keep telling myself to just wait for a promo code or something to justify buying more of things I don’t actually need.. haha.. I too have a net-a-porter cart waiting :P
